This long running Mexican eatery is located at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.

The location is optimal as the Border Grill has outside seating overlooking the scenic Mandalay Bay Pool, which is perhaps the best in Vegas.

The establishment is run by "Celebrity Chefs SUSAN and MARY LOU" who based upon their years in business, meet with success.

Unfortunately, this was not apparent in our recent visit.

My wife and I sat at the bar for lunch.

We noticed that restaurant was sparsely populated with less than six patrons (including us).

Despite the lack of customers it was impossible to get the barkeep to notice us and as a result, it took over ten minutes to get a drink!

To add insult to injury, it took another ten minutes to get a menu, another 20 to get chips & Salsa and another 30 minutes to order our food.

It was like a job that you don't get paid for!

Which brings us to the food.

The Chips & Salsa were a huge disappointment. The three Salsa melodies were bland with little or zero flavor. I actually had to ask for salt, pepper and hot sauce to "doctor" the "tasteless Salsas". What was worse was the accompanying chips, which were of poor quality and therefore lent themselves well to the heretofore mentioned "tasteless Salsas".

For My main entree I had the chicken tacos which were served so " Stone Cold" that Steve Austin would have been proud.

My wife had the chicken Quesadilla which were also cold. As we are all aware, chicken has to be served at certain temperature to prevent against food poisoning, so we were uncomfortable eating these dishes.

Perhaps they should rename the dishes as "Chicken Salmonella" inspired Tacos and Quesadillas.

At this juncture we did our best "Surrender Dorothy" and got out of Oz!

On a final note, the price-point for the Border Grill is steep and there are better Mexican restaurants available in the Mandalay Bay shopping mall at a fraction of the cost.

The "Celebrity Chef" thing is getting old as is the Border Grill.
